Philippa Godsalve

Philippa Godsalve is an experimental musician, composer, DJ and sound artist based in London, known for her film scores, live performances with harp and electronics, DJ sets, and for her monthly daybreak show Boglands on Voices Radio. Concerned with exploring the sonic possibilities of her instrument, Philippa Godsalve’s work traverses drone, noise and avant-folk as well as contemporary, ambient and electronic influences.

Born in Edinburgh, Philippa Godsalve was taught to play the traditional Scottish and Irish repertoire of folk music on the harp by her mother from age 4. As well as her folk roots, early music influences were shaped in the free party scene in her hometown of Reading where she started learning to produce music at 16. She has learned harp with Fraya Thomsen, and is now studying Sonic Art at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Composing and producing music for sound installation at London’s Vibrances Festival, for films which have screened at Chisenhale Art Place, BFI Film Festival and at the ICA, and a sound and movement work performed at Tanzquartier Wien, Philippa Godsalve’s work spans a broad range of disciplines. She has performed with Yoshika Colwell at State 51, Moth Club, Also Festival and St Pancras Church, and at Paper Dress Vintage, Galleria Objets and Next Door Records in her harp/modular synth duo with Lazy H.
